Apple is coming under fire for more anti-competitive behavior after recently impeding the operations of the Beeper Mini app, which allows Android users to text securely with iPhones through encrypted blue bubble text messages.
Senators are calling for an investigation into the tech giant over this anti-competitive action. Senator Warren said it best when she tweeted, “Green bubble texts are less secure. So why would Apple block a new app allowing Android users to chat with iPhone users on iMessage? Big Tech executives are protecting profits by squashing competitors. Chatting between different platforms should be easy and secure.” We couldn’t agree more.
There’s an easy way out here for Apple that would represent a big step towards dispelling the growing allegations of anti-competitive behavior and potential antitrust violations: Apple could simply stop impeding the operations of Beeper Mini.
Add your name to our petition to Tim Cook at Apple, urging them to stop interfering with Beeper Mini and let their users text securely with Android users.
