Accountable Tech Executive Director and Co-Founder Nicole Gill issued the following statement on the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA):

“For years, Big Tech companies have quietly preyed on young people online, harvesting and collecting their intimate data for profit and designing platforms to keep them clicking – regardless of the threats to their health, privacy, and safety. With more than 60 senators across party lines now supporting KOSA, we are closer than ever to passing monumental legislation to protect kids online after more than two decades of congressional inaction.

“An apology from Mark Zuckerberg isn’t enough to address the suffering grieving parents and young people have endured due to Big Tech’s relentless greed for profit. It’s time for the Senate to do its job and bring KOSA to the floor for a vote.”
